Pumphouse Road in the Flats was already stripped of pavement today and will be closed between Grady and Scheidler starting Thursday.

A few outdoor sales are being set up for the traditional Crazy Days weekend in Chippewa Falls. Leinenkugels will be selling t-shirts Thu-Sat and thrift sales are already happening on the East and North sides of Chippewa with many more listed on Craigslist for Thu-Fri. The Pure Water Days parade is cancelled but races are planned for the 8th.

Most of the traffic is already cut off during work on the new traffic circle on County S and County Q and yesterday work was taking place on the bridge, closing a lane of traffic off on the way to the park. Jackhammers could be heard in the nearby neighborhood on Wednesday morning as well.

I went out to a few places to stock up on food and parked on the side of Walgreen’s parking lot that wasn’t being blacktopped. The petroleum smell was strong. I assume the other side is next.

That evening at Kwik Trip on Grand Avenue, I was asked by a young man on a Honda scooter, wearing a Bunny Skull mask, if I knew anything about scooters. He couldn’t get it started, because it was his friend’s and he didn’t understand it. I was tempted to ask “Why are you wearing that stupid bunny mask?” but I was afraid he would retort, “Why are you wearing that stupid human mask?” to which I didn’t have a reply.

Anyway, the key he was trying to use looked like it fit a padlock and when I asked if it was the right one, he immediately remembered that it was the key that said Honda which started the scooter and felt silly. He turned the ignition and took off with a pointing acknowledgment of my wisdom. Anyway, it felt nice to be of help, even though I wondered if the masked man had been a vision of my imagination.

The latest utility box graphic is on the corner of Rushman and Grand Ave, next to site of the old Mason Shoe Factory. However the scene depicted is Duncan Creek in Irvine Park. I am wondering though, “Isn’t it backwards?”

A steady stream of bikes and cars were taking advantage of the newly paved road and pedestrian path on Park Avenue. Opened well ahead of schedule.
