Craigslist is listing a healthy number of thrift sales this weekend, especially on the West Hill. This is the year for fresh air events, it seems.

Arrow Precision resurfaced the parking lot near Aldi in Lake Hallie today. The process involved spraying a thin layer of blacktop on. The petroleum smell was inescapable.

Some dark clouds formed last night then cleared again bringing stifling heat and humidity overnight. Around 11AM, the clouds broke and the rain was released. By 11:30, it had mostly cleared, leaving comfortable conditions in its wake.

About 1/4 inch of rain fell.

This may sound like a slow news day story, but to put it in perspective, our ancestors would have been more concerned about the movements of animals in their environment than just about anything else. These shots are from the last month and were taken by a DNR camera near Duncan Creek north of Chippewa Falls as part of SnapShot Wisconsin. Most of the wildlife on this camera were taken after dark when they are active.

A historic photo now adorns the utility box near the Mason Shoe Outlet. It shows the Hotel Northern which was built between 1919 and 1920 and now houses apartments as well as Anderson Jewelers, Valley Art Gallery and The Tomahawk Room.

A crowd of roughly a dozen people gathered for a family Zumba class at Riverfront Park in Chippewa Falls between 4:30 and 6PM. Temperatures were still in the high 80s. Adults and children could join in.

Cars packed Loopy’s on Business 29 on July 3. Rental business was brisk and regular shuttles took people to put their tubes in at Frenchtown near the Veteran’s Bridge.

A camera located at the Chippewa Falls Chamber of Commerce building at 1 North Bridge Street constantly broadcasts a video view of the Bridge and River Street intersection.

The images are low resolution and don’t reveal license plate numbers, but if you are at all camera-shy, you may consider avoiding this corner.
