It would have been smarter if I had spent this sticky day inside, but taking pictures of roadside weeds and decaying buildings appeals too much to me for some reason.

A cloudburst helped release the humidity around 7PM with some brief lightning, only adding 1/10″ of rain to my gauge. I took a short hop to the Fairgrounds at 10PM to see if the virtual concert scheduled for 9 was still going, but found an empty Fairgrounds with all the lights on. Do virtual people attend virtual concerts? Not sure, but dark, lonely places are another favorite subject of mine anyway.

Update: I was told on Facebook by an attendee that the crowd got rained on but not enough to leave the event.

At around 3PM a throng of bikers headed South on Bridge Street, surprising motorists stopped at the red light on Columbia. It was like a peaceful version of Hollister, California in 1947. These bikers were in town not to trash the place, but to commemorate their fallen comrades.

The New Hampshire Jarheads Motorcycle Club lost 7 members in a crash in 2019 and the New Hampshire chapter displayed a photo memorial to them at the end of their procession. The club is open to Marines who were honorably discharged.

After watching this waxing crescent moon disappear behind some trees, I thought back to the events of the day.

A utility truck was working nearby and day 2 of my neighbor’s busy sportsman’s garage sale was going on. It was advertised as a “man sale” to bring in that demographic, but there was plenty for everyone. The sale got rained on around 10AM, but the cloudburst was so short that I didn’t notice anything on the rain gauge. After that let up, picked raspberries next door while our toddler ran around.

I also photographed these Marvel socks to put on Ebay later, worked on a freelance job and cleaned the freezer. Despite the bug bites incurred while photographing the moon, the day ended peacefully.

A thrift sale with outdoor gear and miscellany is drawing lots of customers to Chippewa’s North side.
